Japanese Exchange Students Need Host Families

If you're looking for a unique experience this summer, you might consider hosting a Japanese exchange student.

Muskoka Language International is looking for Windsor families willing to host 55 female students from a private school in Japan. Host co-ordinator Heather Tremblay says the girls arrive in Canada on July 26th and will stay until August 8th. During their stay, they'll attend classes at Walkerville Collegiate High School.

Host families must have a spare bedroom and be willing to host the girls evenings and weekends, but Tremblay says knowledge of the Japanese language is not required. "You have to speak English to them the whole time," she says.

Some of the girls will experience culture shock. "They experience some types of freedoms that they're not accustomed to," says Tremblay. "There's a lot of foods they're not used to."

Families willing to host the students can find out more online.
