Windsor Library Expansions Planned

Windsor Council will be asked tonight to approve funding for expansions to two city libraries and renovations at a third.

The expansions would add roughly 5,000 sq. ft. of floor space to the Budimir and Optimist Community Centre branches. Roof repairs at the Riverside branch are also planned.

Total cost is about $4.4-million.

Library CEO Kitty Pope says they're waiting on plans for a new branch in west Windsor. "It is part of the overall project, but we aren't ready to start on that one now. We're still working on where in the Sandwich area would be best to put a library."

Pope says architects for the two expansions will be hired this year. Construction is planned for 2016, with an opening date in 2017.
