Leamington Mayor John Paterson is optimistic a meeting between the OPP and business owners will lead to more crime being reported in the uptown area.
Paterson says businesses aren't reporting crime to police, and sometimes expect that they already know about ongoing problems. "I think everybody got their eyes opened a little bit as to how easy it is for them to participate in control of crime in the uptown core."
Windsor-Essex Crime Stoppers was also part of the meeting.
Paterson hopes the businesses owners take advantage of the service to report crime anonymously.
