Lancers Make History

The Windsor Lancers have made history by becoming the second-ever CIS women’s basketball squad to capture five straight national championships.

On Sunday during the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Final 8 championship in Quebec City, the Lancers beat the McGill Martlets 60-47.

Korissa Williams recorded a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Lancers, while adding seven assists and six steals.

Lancers Coach Chantal Vallee says Williams was named the CIS Tournament MVP for the second time in her basketball career.

"Korissa has been outstanding. We could see in her first year that she was going to be a star in the making, and in her fifth year, made sure she performed to her abilities on the floor," says Vallee. "She was incredibly focused and she was not only that, but also a great leader."

With the championship win, the Lancers also extend their CIS post-season winning streak to 21 games.
