Creating Brighter Future For Women

Women's Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor is looking to help local women become more financially stable in the future.

The organization will launch a two-year financial preparedness program, thanks to $175,000 from the federal government.

Executive Director of WEST of Windsor Rose Anguiano-Hurst says women in Ontario typically live five years longer than men, but make 20% less money at their jobs. "We want to look at needs facing youth, as well as more mature workers that are still head of household, possibly earning less, and not prepared for retirement."

Anguiano-Hurst explains that the goal will be to partner with banks, accounting firms and financial planners to come up with a financial plan for women.

It's expected that more than 300 local women will benefit from this initiative.
