Police Investigate Windsor's 2014 Election

Windsor's 2014 municipal election is under the microscope of police.

CAO Helga Reidel says Windsor police have obtained a court order to ensure election records aren't destroyed. "It is normally mandatory to (destroy records) on the 120th day after the election," says Reidel.

The records were secured just days before the deadline to destroy. Reidel says she's unaware of any complaints filed with the city about the last municipal election. "We believe we had an open election process and residents of Windsor have been voting for a long time," says Reidel. "Sometimes you get to the end and there are those people who have issues."

Reidel says she's unsure what prompted this police investigation. "We don't really know any details, and I certainly don't have any details about the complaint itself," says Reidel.

Windsor police declined to comment on the status of the investigation and what prompted it.
