Steam And Gas Museum Expansion

The Essex County Steam and Gas Engine Museum could be getting much bigger.

Officials with the museum will ask Essex Town Council tonight for permission to build a 3,200 sq. ft. expansion to the current building. The structure would be a pole barn, attached to the current museum, allowing for a larger display area.

Currently, several different types of engines are on display from tractors to steam operated wood splitting machines.

The group also organizes the annual steam and gas festival, held at Co-An Park in McGregor each August.

No word on the cost of the expansion.
