UPDATE: Flood Forces Condo Tenants Out

Downtown condo residents are now able to return home after massive flooding made it inhabitable.

Tenant Terrance Komar says she was forced to live out of a motel at her own expense while the problem was being fixed.

On February 22, Windsor fire crews responded to water gushing out of 540 Ouellette Ave.

Komar says her unit had power and heat, but she's been told tenants cannot live there until the problem is fixed. "I'm completely stressed out. I have to go to work basically living out of a hotel with my dog," says Komar. "It's just unbelievable because I have no idea when I'm going to be moving back in."

Komar says she wants some answers and compensation for being forced out of her home. "We can go in and grab stuff, but water actually doesn't work at all," says Komar. "We can't stay there, we can't stay overnight. They have security just guarding the premise."

EnWin Utilities says power and water has been restored to the building.

Building manager Bill Norris says the fire marshal's office isn't allowing tenants to live there until all water and power is restored. Right now Norris says they are working fast to get residents back in, but frozen pipes continue to be an issue. He also says the building won't be compensating tenants because it's not covered under insurance.
