Local unions are showing support for CCAC nurses in their fight for a 1.4% wage increase.
Unifor Local 200 President Chris Taylor says the nurses provide a critical service to our community, and deserve more respect. "These people are taking care of terminal people, they're taking care of our family members that are coming out of the hospital, and they don't ask any questions. They just come in and do their jobs, and here we are with an employer they're refusing a 1.4% wage increase over two years. It just doesn't make any sense."
The striking Ontario Nurses Association members held a rally at the Windsor Regional Hospital's Met Campus this morning.
The CCAC said last week that it's willing to get back to the bargaining table, but ONA representatives say they haven't heard from the employer.
