Kingsville Pre-Approves Major Project

Budget deliberations haven't even started, but Kingsville Town Council hopes to get a jump on at least one big ticket item: long-anticipated improvements at the intersection of Road 3 and Graham Side Rd. near Ruthven.

The project comes with a price tag of $800,000 but Mayor Nelson Santos says the province is contributing a grant worth $250,000 and another $100,000 will come out of the environmental services budget. The town spent $70,000 on engineering designs last year.

Santos wants to get the tender out as soon as possible. "Tendering out early in the year has traditionally brought better results for us in terms of value for our funds," says Santos. "We should be able to get the project under construction sooner rather than later."

Budget deliberations get underway February 18.
