Priority Trail Project Gets Going

The Town of Kingsville is approving $280,000 for the first phase of a new mutli-use trail along Seacliff Dr.

"This corridor continues to come forward as one of the most needed improvements for our region," says Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos.

Council pre-approved the first phase of the project along Seacliff Dr. from Albuna Townline to Ravine Line Rd. ahead of finalizing its 2015 budget, with budget talks set to continue February 18.

"To have that natural link between Kingsville and Leamington addressed along Seacliff is going to take us leap years ahead in terms of safety from where we are today," says Santos, noting a phased approach was considered more budget-friendly. "Our share would have been approximately $750,000 if we were to do the entire project all at once and that is quite a significant amount of dollars that would have to be allocated for just one project."

The county is pitching in $185,000 for the first phase of construction as part of its County Wide Active Trasportation System funding initiative.
