Catholic Board Watching Budget Deliberations

One group who continues to watch for city council's decision on Windsor Water World is the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.

The city offered the board the land that Windsor Water World and Windsor Arena sits on for $1 to so it can build a new Catholic Central High School there. Last May, board trustees agreed this was their preferred spot and applied to the province for funding.

One estimate suggests construction will cost around $25-million, but board spokesperson Stephen Fields says they've yet to hear back from the Ministry of Education.

"From our end, we are pretty much ready to go," he says. "It's just a case of getting the word from the ministry and making sure we get the green light... before we can proceed with that."

During budget talks earlier this week it was decided the facility will remain open for at least another six months before a final decision on its future is made.
