The City of Windsor is pre-approving $15.6-million in capital spending in order to get a jump start on sending out tenders.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says, "We do this every year to make sure that we get tenders out quickly, get them out early, and that way we actually get a better price. Then those folks can start booking in those projects so that as soon as spring hits, they can start working on those projects right away."
Dilkens says the projects at highest priority for the city are usually ones that involve both sewer and road maintenance.
The two biggest projects on the docket right now, include work on Jos St. Louis Ave., from Rose Ave. all the way south to the dead end. That's expected to cost $2.7-million, while $2.25-million's being set aside for a project on Bruce Ave. between West Grand Ave. and Norfolk St.
