Benjamin Homicide Victim Was Pregnant

A veteran Windsor police officer is describing Thursday's homicide on Benjamin Avenue as "one of the most disturbing crime scenes that I have seen in my 28 years of policing."

Staff Sergeant. Mark Denonville of the Major Crimes Unit read a prepared statement late Friday, revealing the 31-year-old victim was seven months pregnant.

The homicide occurred early Thursday morning when firefighters arrived at 1564 Benjamin Ave. for a fire call. Denonville says they found a female dead inside.

"Investigators have been working around the clock in an attempt to identify the person or persons responsible for this crime," says Denonville.

He says it's unknown if the victim and her attacker were known to each other.

Police say the victim is not being identified at the request of the family. Denonville says she was employed at a local parts supply company. A postmortem is currently being conducted in London.

Police are asking if you have any information to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or anonymously Crime Stoppers.
