The Greater Essex County District School Board is giving the go-ahead for a new accommodation review of schools in Amherstburg, Kingsville and Harrow.
The review could end with recommended school closures as the board looks to consolidate space to save money. Western Secondary in Amherstburg is included in the review and it has parents like Priya Sivakaumar worried.
"All these trustees, they have to get up and tell us that our children with special needs will have the same chance of success in any neighbourhood school," says Sivakaumar, who lives in LaSalle and sends her son to Western Secondary. "Unless they can vouch for that, I don't think they can include Western in the study."
General Amherst in Amherstburg is also included in the review as are Kingsville District High School, Harrow District High School and Harrow Public School.
