Catholic Students Donate Toys

Generous students at two local Catholic schools are donating hundreds of toys to help many families during the holidays.

The Fill the Jeep Toy Drive Challenge is put on by students from St. Rose and Corpus Christi.

St. Rose teacher Rosemary Barbera says St. Vincent De Paul relies heavily on the community for toy donations this time of year. "They are serving the poorest of the poor and many kids who will go without a Christmas present this Christmas," says Barbera.

When this event started last year, St. Vincent De Paul didn't have any gifts for the children. This year students collected well over 300 toys for those in need. "It teaches everyone that the Christmas spirit is alive and that giving is better than receiving," says Barbera. "We are a comfortable school where we are able to donate to those (who) are more needy than our school."
