WPS Active Shooter Training

If a shooter were to enter a school in the area, Windsor police and members of the local school boards are now a little more prepared.

For the last five weeks, Windsor police have been using former schools in Tecumseh to play out an active shooter scenario where officers are learning to prepare in real time.

"The officers truly feel the stress that we talk about, what happens to the body under stress, so the more we put them in the scenarios and get at that highest level the better. Digital dexterity, time and distance distortion, the heart elevates and we're going to be able to get that through this type of event," says trainer Constable Ken Price. He says it's important to run through every scenario and to understand all the expectations.

All 440 Windsor police officers, along with representatives from LaSalle, Amherstburg and local OPP, have taken part in the training.
