Police Urge Revellers To BehaveMarch 16, 2014 6:05am
Expect more police officers on the streets of Windsor this St.Patrick’s Day.
Windsor police say shift schedules have been modified as the service anticipates a greater volume of calls this weekend and Monday. Enforcement at city bars will be stepped up, and those taking part in organized street celebrations can expect a very visible police presence.
Police are urging revellers to treat themselves and others with respect by moderating their alcohol consumption, planning a safe ride home and keeping in mind most people work Monday and Tuesday. Windsor police Inspector Geoff Dunmore says that’s why the service has reached out through social and traditional media. “Just to let people know to be aware that your celebrations don’t override the rights of others to some peace and quiet.”
Sandwich St. will be closed between Detroit and Brock St. for a street festival Sunday and Monday. Street parking on Sandwich will be restricted between 8am Sunday, March 16 and 1am Tuesday, March 18.
