With a flag raising at Windsor City Hall, Windsor-Essex Pride Fest is now officially underway.
For the first time in its 20-year history president David Lenz says they’ll host an event specifically geared towards families.
“Rides, some face painting, we have kid entertainment that we’re bringing in,” says Lenz. “But the festival’s always had family oriented parts of it, we just enhanced a lot of it this year because we just feel that we wanted everyone to be involved with the festival, not just for one specific day, so it’s all weekend.”
Lenz says they’re aiming for upwards of 5,000 visitors at the Riverfront Festival Plaza this weekend. A party featuring DJ’s and aerial acrobatics will also be held Saturday night. Pride Fest wraps up Sunday with the annual parade down Ouellette Ave. from Elliott St. to Riverside Dr.
