Windsor police have arrested and charged a man who was allegedly caught in the act of a break and enter on Saturday.

Patrol officers were stopped downtown around 4:45am by a business owner who caught a man inside his store. The owner told police he was notified by his alarm company about activity at his business. When he arrived, and saw the person inside he fled. The man did not have a phone on him, so he was headed toward the police station when he ran into the patrol officers.

When officers attended the business on Wyandotte St. W they found a man loading items from the business onto a dolly cart as he exited the rear of the building.

A 35-year-old Windsor man is charged with possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime and possession of break and enter instruments.

A man is facing charges after being arrested on the rooftop of a vacant residence on Sunday afternoon.

Police say a citizen witnessed a break and enter in progress and called them around 3:30pm Sunday afternoon.

The officers saw a man on the roof and went to the second floor of the residence to try to talk the man off the roof. Police say the man appeared disoriented and was going in and out of consciousness.

When the man did respond, two officers went onto the roof and were able to secure the suspect until Windsor Fire and Rescue arrived on scene with a bucket ladder.

A 27-year-old man is now charged with unlawfully entering a dwelling, possessing break and enter tools and breach of probation.
