Police Briefs – July 11, 2016

It wasn’t a dream — a man sound asleep in his vehicle awoke suddenly to the OPP at his door, arresting him for drunk driving.

Officers found him at 2:45pm in the 200-block of Talbot St. W in Leamington on Saturday. The driver of the grey Jeep showed signs of impairment.

The 52-year-old Kingsville man has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding 80mg of blood alcohol content.

Essex County OPP is also thanking the public for continuously calling authorities when they believe an impaired driver is on the road.


A 50-year-old Leamington man pulled over for swerving has been charged with drunk driving.

The white Ford van he was driving was seen crossing the center line on Cherry Lane Sunday at around 8pm, OPP say.

The driver, and only person in the vehicle, showed signs of impairment. He was arrested on the scene.

OPP have charged him with impaired driving and exceeding 80mg of alcohol content.


A man caught on camera allegedly stealing meat and other items is now wanted by Windsor police.

The suspect went to the Real Canadian Superstore on Dougall Ave. on Wednesday. Police say he walked out with unpaid merchandise, some concealed in a bag.

A loss prevention officer at the store approached the man, saying he’s under arrest. The suspect then hands over the stolen food and fled the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
