Organizers are hoping local golfers will help boost attendance at the Jamieson WFCU Windsor Roseland Charity Classic.

Tournament Director and head pro at Roseland Randy McQueen says he hopes the rest of the event is as good as yesterday’s opening round.

“We couldn’t ask for a better story with David Byrne getting a start on the Shortie Shootout and then tied for the lead with his uncle on the bag,”says McQueen. ”If there was anybody to write this story like literally it would seem fake what’s happening right now.”

Essex golfer David Byrne was in a four-way tie for the lead heading into today. He teed off just before 1pm. Advance ticket sales were about 1,200, but McQueen hopes to draw up to 4,000 people a day over the weekend. Other local players include Windsor’s Bob Panasik and Chatham’s Mike Woodcock.
