Gusty Winds May Cause Shore Erosion

With a gusting winds predicted throughout the weekend, the local conservation authority is warning of possible shoreline erosion.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority says all shoreline areas could be impacted at varying times as winds shift.   Along with shore erosion, the region should also be prepared for wave overtopping and the possibility of potential breakwall damage.

The conservation authority says with elevated lake levels, there is a higher probability of potential nearshore erosion and breakwall damage due to the duration of the forecasted winds.

An advisory will remain in effect until Tuesday.
