Fazio Leads Sting To 4-2 Win In London

The Sarnia Sting's veteran goaltender looks ready for the postseason.

In what was likely the last regular season start of his OHL career, Justin Fazio made 40 saves and was named the games first star in a 4-2 win over the London Knights.

After the Sting got off to a 3-0 start in the first, it was Fazio who lead them the rest of the way making 35 saves over the final 40 minutes. The netminder was also a big reason Sarnia killed off six straight London powerplays.

Assistant Coach Brad Staubitz was pleased with his teams opening frame, but says there's still some things they need to clean up going forward.

"Those are the starts we need. We got to show our speed, we got to show our skill and go right after teams. From that perspective it was good," says Staubitz. "There's things we got to tighten up moving forward like our d-zone coverage, but all-in-all a good game."

Drake Rymsha scored just 25 seconds into the game, and Jordan Kyrou scored his 39th goal of the season in his 250th career OHL game. The Sting captain is third in the OHL scoring race with 109 points, one behind the Soo's Morgan Frost and seven points back of the Colts Aaron Luchuk.

Sarnia will wrap up their regular season schedule Saturday in Owen Sound. The game means very little to the Sting, but London will be keeping a close eye on the final score-- the Knights are two points back of the Attack for 4th in the Western Conference.

Sarnia will begin the playoffs Friday, March 23 on home-ice. If Guelph wins in Erie on Saturday night, the Sting will play the Storm in the opening round.
