Sting in Seventh Heaven, Beat Oshawa 6-5

Jordan Kyrou had five points in the Sarnia Sting's 6-5 win over the Generals in Oshawa Sunday night.

It's the seventh win in a row for Sarnia, who now have 66 points and are in second place in the OHL West Division.

The Sting got a power play almost right away after the opening faceoff, and they took advantage when Jonathan Ang capitalized just 64 seconds into the game. Michael Pezzetta doubled the Sarnia lead at 5:13 and Adam Ruzicka added to it with his 26th goal of the season.

The Generals got on the board at 12:51 when Matt Brassard connected with an unassisted goal, but Pezzetta responded soon after with his second goal of the game. Sarnia took a 5-1 lead into the locker room after one period thanks to a Drake Rymsha goal.

Kyrou had an assist on the first four Sting goals in the first period.

Oshawa fought back in the second period with three unanswered goals from Jack Studnicka, Danil Antropov and Brendan Harrogate. Sarnia held onto a 5-4 lead after two periods of play.

Studnicka tied the game for the Generals in the third period, his second goal of the contest, but Kyrou finally put the puck in himself on the power play at 11:01. It turned out to be the winning goal.

Justin Fazio won in net for the Sting, collecting 31 saves. Kyle Keyser was pulled from the Oshawa goal in the first period and replaced with Cole Ceci. They had 37 saves combined.

The Sting travel to St. Catharines on Friday to take on the Niagara IceDogs.
