Lucky Seven for Sting, Beat Guelph 6-1

Franco Sproviero scored twice and added an assist as the Sarnia Sting beat the Guelph Storm 6-1 Saturday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The win extends the Sting's current streak to seven and brings their point total 16, one point ahead of idle Sault Ste. Marie. This is good enough, at least for now, for first place in the OHL West Division.

Sproviero was involved in the Sting's two goals in the first period, first assisting on Cameron Hough's score at 16:20 in the period then scoring a short-handed goal himself before the first intermission.

Sarnia added two more unanswered goals in the second period, off the sticks of Sean Josling and Brady Hinz. Guelph got on the board at 15:58 in the second with Liam Hawel's second goal of the year, though Sproviero would answer back before the end of the period with his second score of the night.

Drake Rymsha added to the Sting lead with the lone goal in the third period.

Justin Fazio stopped all but one of the 40 shots fired at him by Guelph. Cole Ceci took the loss for the Storm with 32 saves out of 38 attempts.

The Sting travel to Windsor Sunday afternoon for a matinee with the Spitfires.
