Sting Trade Overage Forward To Sudbury

Troy Lajeunesse will be playing a bit closer to home as the Sarnia Sting have traded the overage forward to Sudbury for a fourth round pick in 2021.

Lajeunesse, who was originally picked up as a free agent in 2014, played 191 games for Sarnia, scoring 44 goals and 107 points.

He was raised in Dokis First Nation, near Lake Nipissing, just shy of two hours outside of Sudbury. It will be a nice homecoming for Lajeunesse, who typically had several family and friends at games in North Bay and Sudbury when the Sting went on their annual northern road trip.

He's never been this close to home during his junior career, having played three seasons in Sarnia, and was previously with the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Waterloo Siskins.

The trade makes Sarnia's overage picture a little clearer, leaving Connor Schlichting, Jordan Ernst and Justin Fazio on the roster.

The Sting's next game is Saturday night as they host Kingston and then entertain Ottawa Sunday afternoon
