Former Sting On The Move

Several former members of the Sarnia Sting have been making headlines the last few weeks.

Mike Van Ryn, who skated with the Sting during the 1999-2000 season, was named Head Coach of the Tucson Roadrunners. They are the Arizona Coyotes' AHL affiliate. He was a Development Coach with Arizona last season after three years behind the bench of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers. He was the Head Coach during his final year in Kitchener, and was an Associate Coach behind Troy Smith for the two seasons prior.

The Boston Bruins have avoided salary arbitration with Ryan Spooner by working out a one-year package worth just over $2.8-million. Spooner scored 15 goals and 34 points in 30 games with the Sting in 2011-12. He was acquired from the Kingston Frontenacs in a midseason trade.

Stephen Pierog will return to the SPHL's Macon Mayhem for a third season after signing a new deal with the club. He scored 12 goals and 41 points in 53 games with the Mayhem last year. Pierog was acquired by the Sting midway through the 2014-2015 season. He won an OHL Championship with the Guelph Storm in 2014.
