Sports Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

Eight individuals and a team comprise the Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame's class of 2017.

Former hockey player Jason Simon is the professional inductee.

ATV flat track racer David Little and figure skater Taylor Steele are honoured amateur athletes.

Larry Lecour will receive the Bud Morrison Award.

Wyoming minor baseball's Joe Kerrigan and Brian Fowler are being recognized as builders.

Former SMAA baseball chairman Joe Panik will receive the Earl MacKenzie Award.

Norma Cox has won the Rose Hodgson Award.

Rugby coach Collette McAuley is going in under the special achievement category.

Swimmer Koty Alkerton was honoured with the Joe DeRush Award.

The Pappy Burr award was won by high school graduates Marissa Mueller and Katie Barwitzki.

And the 1967-68 Sutherland Cup winning Sarnia Legionnaires will get the team distinction.

The inductees and various award winners will be celebrated at the 35th annual enshrinement dinner September 23 at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. Tickets are available until Sept. 10 by contacting any board member. .
