Big Numbers Expected For 36th Annual Bluewater Triathlon

Organizers are anticipating some quick times this weekend for the 36th annual Bluewater Triathlon and Duathlon in Bright's Grove.

They say race conditions are looking fairly good Saturday for the 250 athletes. Organizer Ken Walker says the triathlon, consisting of a 1.5 km swim, 4 km bike, and 10 km run, is usually completed in under two hours by the top athletes.

Motorists should be aware that there could be some traffic delays and runners and cyclists make their way through Bright's Grove and Camlachie. The leaders are expected to cross the finish line at Wildwood Park in Bright's Grove around 10:30am Saturday morning.

There will be about 40 volunteers helping out on the water and throughout the course.

On Sunday, another 120 athletes competing in an age appropriate triathlon around the streets of Bright's Grove. Sunday's race gets underway at 1pm, and is for kids ranging for four-year-old to 14 years old.
