Local Golfers At Ontario Amateur Championship

Camlachie's David French leads a contingent of local golfers at the Ontario Amateur Golf Championships in Windsor. French, who golfs out of Sawmill Creek, shot a five-under-66 Wednesday to put him five shots back of the leaders. John Foster, Maxwell Sear and Shyamal Nagindas are tied at eight under through 36 holes. Stephen Brown and Eric Pattenaude, both of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, are 11 shots off the leader. Brown shot a second round 72, Pattenaude shot a 74.

Three other local golfers, Ethan O'Meara, Adam Graham and Brandon Van Billsen missed the cut.

French is looking to be the first Sarnia golfer to win the Ontario Amateur Golf Championships since Matt Hill did so in 2009. Graham Hill won the tournament in 2005, and Mike Weir won it in 1990 and 1992

Round three action continues today from the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.
