Komoka Kings Add Former NHLer To Coaching Staff

The Komoka Kings are adding some veteran hockey experience to their coaching staff.

The club has announced former NHLer and London native Jason Williams will be an assistant coach this season.

The recently retired 36-year-old says he's excited to get started.

"With the places I've played and the things that I've seen, I think I have a lot of experience in knowing where the game is going," says Williams. "I think that type of experience will definitely be beneficial for some of these young kids. I just hope to help them out as much as I can, and hopefully they can move on and have some kind of playing career."

Head Coach Brian Dobbin, also a former NHLer, knows Williams' knowledge of the game will be a major asset.

"Jason will be a great addition to the coaching staff, having just retired, Jason's extensive playing experience will be a valued asset to the team," says Dobbin. "We look forward to Jason helping us become a better hockey club."

Williams began his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings, winning a Stanley Cup with the team in 2002.

He also played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars, tallying 157 points in 455 NHL games. He recently had playing stints in Switzerland, Germany, and England.

This will be the Kings first season in the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

The club recently received approval to relocate to Komoka from Lambton Shores.
