Busy Weekend In The WCSBL

It was a busy weekend on the local ball diamonds with several Western Counties Senior Baseball League games on the schedule.

The Petrolia Raiders got their busy weekend started on a losing note Saturday, a 6-4 loss against Port Lambton. John Manuik pitched the complete game for the Raiders, while Paul Bezaire earned the win for the Pirates, striking out five over five innings of work.

They bounced back nicely on Sunday, as the Raiders took both games of a doubleheader against Wallaceburg, 6-4 and 6-3.

The Pirates were also back in action Sunday, as they hosted the Wyoming Cattlebarons, coming away with the 12-2 victory. Port Lambton pitchers Dylan Webster and Matt Liberty gave up just six hits while combining to strike out ten Wyoming batters.

Also on Sunday, the Dresden Bulls hosted the Forest Dragons for a pair of games that saw the two teams split the double header. The Dragons took the first game 5-3, before Alex Patterson pitched a complete game for Dresden in the second game, striking out nine batters in the 5-4 win. Kasey Holmes and Patterson both had four hits in the second game for the Bulls.
