Braves Walk Off Royals

It was a much closer this time around for two of the top teams in the Southwestern Senior Baseball League.

The Sarnia Braves picked up the 6-5 walk off win Wednesday night, just days after defeating the Strathroy Royals 17-2 Sunday afternoon.

Keegan Brandon cracked a double with two outs in the ninth inning, allowing McKenzie Maxwell to score from first. Maxwell finished the game with four hits, driving in three runs for the Braves.

Nick Baljeu started for Sarnia, he struck out four and gave up four runs in six innings of work. Wade Babula entered the game in the seventh inning with none out and a runner on second base. That runner would score but that is all Babula would allow, pitching a strong three innings of relief to keep the game tied heading into the bottom half of the final inning.

The Royals, who were Canadian Silver Medalist last season, were previously undefeated before dropping a pair of games against Sarnia.

The Braves have now won 14 straight games in 2017 and have an early 1.5 game lead in the Southwestern Baseball League standings.
