Pacers Drop Heated Tilt Against Red Devils

The Point Edward Pacers dropped a 12-5 decision to division rivals Wallaceburg Saturday night, in a game that featured its fare share of the rough stuff.

The two teams traded goals in the early going with Lucas Knowles and Jacob Caughlin finding the back of the net for Point Edward. The Red Devils opened things up in the second half of the opening period, with four goals to take a 6-2 lead into the intermission.

Wallaceburg added five more in the second period, with Cory Burr scoring the only goal for the home side.

With the game out of reach, frustrations boiled over in the third period.

The two teams combined for 207 penalty minutes, most of which came in that final frame. Ethan Dupont, Josh Barraclough and Dylan Lavoie all received fighting majors during the same stoppage of play, which could result in additional suspensions for all three.

Logan Scott and Cory Burr added third period goals but it was too little too late as the PAcers drop their third game against Wallaceburg in as many meetings this season.

Coming off a statement win over Windsor on Thursday, Head Coach Randy Dunn expected more from his club.

"We hadn't beat that Windsor team in a number of years so it was great to get a win in their barn, it would have been nice to see some of that carry over into tonight," says Dunn. "It wasn't necessarily for lack of effort, but our execution wasn't there tonight. Don't know what it was, hopefully it's just one of those nights."

Point Edward is now 6-6 on the season, and travel to London Thursday. They return home for a pair of games next weekend, against Orangeville Saturday night and Wallaceburg Sunday afternoon. Both weekend home games will be broadcasted live on CHOK as part of Sentry Fire Point Edward Pacers Lacrosse.
