Impressive Showing For Sting Prospects At Gold Cup

It was an impressive showing at the OHL Gold Cup for some Sarnia Sting prospects.

A total of eight prospects were in Kitchener on the weekend, with five suiting up for Sunday's gold medal game, including two who were members of the victorious GTHL Red team.

First round pick Jamieson Rees scored a second period goal that turned out to be the game winner as GTHL Red beat OMHA Black 3-1. The ninth overall pick finished the tournament with four goals and three assists in five games, his seven points were three off the tournament leader. Fifth round pick Ashton Reesor also won gold, he finished the tournament with an assist. Ethan Langevin made 30 saves in the loss, the sixth round pick posted a 2-2 record with a 1.91GAA and .939sv% in four games. Brayden Guy and Colton Kammerer were also with OMHA Black, Kammerer had an assists in the five games, while Guy scored a goal and added two assists. Second round pick Alexandre Hogue won bronze with Team HEO, he led all defencemen with a goal and six assists in five games. Third Round pick Justin McCombs scored four goals in five games for Team ALLIANCE. North Bay's Cole Craft, and eighth round pick of the Sting, was a member of Team NOHA.
