Sting Lose to Mississauga in Overtime 3-2

Nicholas Hague's goal with just 0.7 seconds left in overtime shocked the Sarnia Sting Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the Mississauga Steelheads.

The overtime goal broke a 2-2 deadlock that had been in place with 14 minutes elapsed in the second period.

The loss keeps the Sting with 65 points in the OHL Western Conference, following the point earned for the overtime loss.  The point total is good for eighth place and the last playoff berth.

Jaden Lindo got the Sting on the board very quickly, with his 20th goal of the season just 37 seconds into the opening period.  Less than three minutes later the game was tied up on a score from the Steelheads' Owen Tippett.

Mississauga did have a lead in regulation, just after the start of the middle period with a power play goal from Jacob Cascagnette.  Sarnia tied the game up and it would remain knotted for the rest of regulation on a goal from Drake Rymsha.  Jordan Kyrou had an assist on that goal, extending his point streak to 27 games.

It appeared the game would head to a shootout as the overtime period almost passed without a goal, then Hague's stunner with less than a second remaining left the Sting with one point instead of two.

Aidan Hughes had 26 saves out of 29 shots in goal for the Sting, who travel to Sault Ste. Marie Wednesday night to take on the Greyhounds, at first place in the OHL West Division.
