The Sarnia Legionnaires (17-17-0-2) dropped a hard fought 4-3 overtime decision at the hands of the first place LaSalle Vipers (28-7-0-3) in GOJHL play Thursday night at the Brock St. Barn.

Jake Vince, Joey Zappa and Ethan Dupont each scored for the Legionnaires, while Nash Nienhuis dished out two assists. Defenceman Dede Cato led the way for the Vipers with the game winning goal and a pair of helpers.

Both teams scored one goal in each period, with Dupont's third period marker sending the game to the extra frame.

The Legionnaires scored once on six powerplay chances and killed off all five penalties against.

Jorgen Johnson stopped 30 of 34 shots in the Legionnaires crease, and LaSalle goalie Eli Billing made 34 saves on 37 Sarnia shots.

The Legionnaires return to action Saturday night in Lambton Shores.
