Sting Make Two Selections In CHL Import Draft

The Canadian Hockey League held its annual import draft on Tuesday, with teams selecting European players to come to North America.

The Sarnia Sting chose Czech forward Filip Helt 47th overall. He scored 20 goals and had 46 points in 42 games with HC Litvinov of the Czech U 18 league last season.

He was the very last pick of the 2016 NHL draft by the St. Louis Blues and could join fellow St. Louis pick Jordan Kyrou on the roster.

The Sting also took centre Adam Ruzicka with the 107th selection. The 17-year-old Slovakian centre put up 14 goals and 30 points in 30 games with HC Pardubice of the Czech U20 league this past season. He's eligible for the 2017 NHL draft.

Sarnia currently only has one import player on the roster, Pavel Zacha. They can put him on the reserve list for the coming year since he's a first round NHL pick.
