Lajeunesse Hat Trick Leads Sting

Troy Lajeunesse scored a hat trick as the Sarnia Sting finished the weekend road trip with a win in Sudbury.

Lajeunesse opened the scoring, finishing off a Jordan Kyrou pass just under eight minutes into the contest. Sarnia continued to carry the play from there, Alexandre Renaud scored a power play marker before Lajeunesse added his second of the period.

Holding a 18-7 shot advantage through 20 minutes the Sting led 3-0.

First overall pick David Levin tipped a point shot by Justin Fazio to get Sudbury on the board 1:11 into the second period.

Noah Bushnell responded shortly after, poking the loose puck through the legs of Troy Timpano after a great offensive rush from Jakob Chychrun. It was Chychrun's first of two assists on the day.

Sudbury would once again trim the Sarnia lead midway through the second when captain Danny Desrochers beat Fazio with a hard wrist shot.

The Sting would lead 4-2 until the final minutes when Troy Lajeunesse finished off his first career OHL hat trick with just over two minutes remaining.

The win improves Sarnia's record to 3-2 on the season.
