Charity raffle resumes after summer break

The Sarnia Professional Firefighter Association continues to support local charities.

The organization's meat raffles are back for another year after taking a break for the summer.

Spokesman John Tidball said proceeds benefit charities including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Inn of the Good Shepherd, and St. Joseph's Hospice.

"We probably raise anywhere from $400 to $500," said Tidball. "So, we put that back into our bank account and we have a committee of 12 members. We get people coming in and asking for donations, and then we decide on how much and where we kick that money back in to."

Tidball said they've been able to raise just under $15,000 since the event began.

The raffles are every Friday night at Stoke's Inland from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
