An addiction and mental health awareness, recovery day and open house are planned in Sarnia Saturday.
Bluewater Health is coordinating the event at the Unifor Local 914 union hall on Devine Street.
Mental Health & Addictions Vice President Paula Reaume-Zimmer said we have many organizations supporting the needs of the community, but they're told constantly that many people are unaware of them or don't know how to access them.
"We've really focused on bringing the entire community of mental health and addiction partners together so that it's one space where all of our community, family and individuals that are seeking the help can go," said Reaume-Zimmer.
She said more than 20 organizations will be on site.
"Canadian Mental Health Association, AA [Alcoholics Anonymous] programs, Lambton Public Health, Rapids Family Health Team, St. Clair Child and Youth, Victim Services. A lot of the programs, not just mental health or addiction specific, but agencies that support the overall well being of individuals who are struggling with mental illness or addictions," said Reaume-Zimmer.
The event at 900 Devine Street goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Free Naloxone/Narcan kits will be provided.
