Sarnia hosts Major Bantam AAA hockey faceoff

Sarnia residents have a chance to catch some future Ontario Hockey League prospects in action this weekend.

All 12 Alliance Major Bantam AAA teams, made up of 14-year-olds, are facing off at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Teams are coming from across the province, including Cambridge, Windsor, Chatham, Brantford, and Kitchener.

Junior Sting Head Coach Brad Riley said his team will have a good chance to win the tournament.

"I think that this team this year is a lot different than last year's team," said Riley. "I think we're a lot better and bigger and have a lot more skill. I think we're going to do some damage this year."

Riley expects scouts from the OHL, GOJHL, and universities and colleges to be in attendance.

Action gets underway on Friday at noon with the Sting facing the Cambridge Hawks, and wraps up on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Sting will also face the Waterloo Wolves on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., the Kitchener Jr. Rangers on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and the Huron Perth Lakers on Sunday at 11 a.m.
