Legionnaires Training Camp This Weekend

About 40 players will be at Sarnia Legionnaires main camp, taking place this weekend at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Derek Di Muzio is into his first season as the GOJHL team's head coach after replacing Mark Davis.

He says every player will have a shot to make the club.

"We're super excited as a staff and organization to get things going here," says Di Muzio. "Obviously there have been a lot of changes, and we've got a lot of new faces to evaluate with guys coming in from out of town as well as local talent.

We've got two full teams (at camp). We decided to keep camp really focused on what we're looking for in the guys and we've already done some initial evaluating."

Di Muzio says the Legionnaires have a handful of players attending OHL camps and says that speaks to the quality of their development.

There will be practice sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9am, and a scrimmage at 2pm both days.

The Legionnaires have preseason contests at Progressive Auto Sales Arena on August 23 versus Chatham and August 30 against St. Thomas.

The regular season schedule has yet to be released.
