Radio Announcer Alerts Police, Suspects Arrested

Sarnia police arrested two men after a Blackburn Radio announcer reported suspicious activity near the London Rd. studios Friday morning.

Just before 9:30am, the announcer saw two men near the chain link fence adjacent to a Lambton College demolition site. They were allegedly removing large bags loaded with cut pipes and stashing them in bushes.

Police were called and arrests were made without incident after a brief foot chase onto Humber Dr.

Two Sarnia men, aged 38 and 36, are charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The 36-year-old is also charged with break-and-enter, and breach of probation.

They were being held pending bail hearings and names had not been released.

The Sarnia Police Service reminds the public that reporting incidents like this help officers do their job effectively, and in turn, ensures a safer community.
