Mayoral Races Take Shape Across Lambton County

Interesting mayoral races are shaping up across Lambton County in advance of the October 22 municipal election.

In Petrolia, former town administrator Brad Loosley is seeking the mayor's seat, along with Bob Maniuk and Liz Welsh.

They're looking to succeed John McCharles who isn't seeking re-election after spending 12 years as mayor and 16 on council.

Warwick Township will also have a new mayor, as Todd Case's name won't be on the ballot. He was mayor for 18 years and served as Lambton County's Warden for four of those.

John Couwenberg and Jackie Rombouts are vying for the job.

In Brooke-Alvinston, David Ferguson, Kenneth Dew, Dawn Marie Nevills and Tom Scott are running to replace Don McGugan who was mayor for 16 years.

Lambton Shores incumbent Bill Weber has one opponent in the race, former municipal councillor Doug Bonesteel.

It's a four-man race in St. Clair Township, with longtime mayor Steve Arnold going for a fourth term against current councillor Jeff Agar, as well as Ed Linton and Brian Everaert.

There are a few incumbents running unopposed this time around, including Lonny Napper in Plympton-Wyoming, Bev Hand in Point Edward, Kevin Marriott in Enniskillen Township, Alan Broad in Dawn-Euphemia, and Ian Veen in Oil Springs.
