A longtime St. Clair Catholic District School Board trustee is running for a seat on Sarnia City Council.
Michelle Parks has served 12 years on the board, most recently as vice-chair.
She says concerns about city council's performance the past term prompted her to go for one of the four lower tier seats at city hall.
"It was a tough decision for me because I really enjoy being a school board trustee," she says. "But I felt that I've been kind of critical of this current council and I've always been one that if I want change that I'm not going to sit here with my hands on my keyboard, I'm going to try to initiate change. So I felt now was the best time to run and try to make a difference."
Parks says she was very involved with the initiative to save Jackson Pool.
She believes her experience on the school board, and in business and management, makes her a quality candidate for council.
More information is available on her website.
The deadline for candidates to register for the October 22 municipal election is July 27 at 2pm.
