Boushy Seeking Another Council Term

A longtime Sarnia politician is running for one of four dual city/county council seats in this fall's municipal election.

Dave Boushy has been on city council for over 30 years, and served as MPP from 1995 to 1999.

The 86-year-old says he wants to address infighting that's plagued city hall over the past term.

"I think it created a bad name for Sarnia, and people coming from outside of the city, province, and country ask me what's going on in Sarnia," says Boushy. "We have to get back, in my opinion, to working together for what's best for the community.

"I love Sarnia, I love this community, I love the people in it. People for me come first. I'm driven by my faith to serve this community, and you can trust me on that."

Boushy says he's endorsing Mike Bradley's bid for a tenth term as the city's mayor, calling him a good friend.

Bradley is going up against councillor Anne Marie Gillis and Fred Ingham in the mayoral race.

The election is being held on October 22. Candidates have until 2pm on Friday to file nomination papers.
