Christopher Plain Returns As Aamjiwnaang Chief

A longtime former chief is the new Chief of Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

Christopher Plain won a four-way race for the top position in Friday's election with 267 votes.

Lareina Rising was Plain's nearest rival with 157 votes, followed by Darren Henry and Ronald Codey Simon.

Plain previously served as chief for a decade until 2016 when he successfully ran for councillor.

The chief for the past two years, Joanne Rogers did not seek re-election this time.

Along with Plain, nine councillors were elected to two year terms.

They are: Shawn Plain, Errnol Gray, John Adams, Thomas Maness, Janelle Nahmabin, Marina Plain, Dallas Sinopole, Michael Jackson and Darren Henry.
