Big Bang At Imperial (VIDEO)

A large metal structure at the former Lubricants and Specialties plant at Imperial's Sarnia manufacturing site came down late Thursday morning.

The structure, located at the most northerly part of the plant at Christina St. near Confederation St., is part of a 228,000 sq ft warehouse that's been dismantled over the last few weeks.

There was noise in the immediate area when the warehouse skeleton was brought down.

Imperial Oil announced in November of 2013 that it was closing its Lubricant Blending Packing and Shipping plant for competitive reasons, causing the loss of 60 jobs.

The plant was one of the oldest at the century-old Sarnia refinery.
